PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

A petroleum geologist, stratigrapher, and sedimentologist with a broad professional background that includes: exploration, exploitation, consulting, and research/training experience in the petroleum industry; university research and teaching; and state and federal government positions. Domestic work experience includes the Western Interior of the U.S., the Gulf Coast, and west Texas. International work experience includes West Africa and Brazil, the Caspian Sea, Pakistan, the Canadian Arctic, and Venezuela.

SELECT EXPLORATION EXPERIENCE

Integrated Synthesis of Petroleum Systems and Play Fairways along the Passive Margins of West Africa and Brazil.

Stratigraphic Evaluation of the Sibi Block, Baluchistan Province, Pakistan.

Analyzed and interpreted depositional facies and systems in the Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast, utilizing core and log data, to aid affiliate offices in their exploration efforts.

Developed and presented three prospects and followed exploration developments in southeast New Mexico.

Participated in an outcrop study of the regional stratigraphy of the Marathon Basin, Texas as part of Exxon's frontier exploration effort in the Western Overthrust Play.

SELECT EXPLOITATION EXPERIENCE

Pliocene "Red Series" Reservoir Characterization and Organic Geochemistry of Hydrocarbons and Source Rocks, Western Turkmenistan Onshore and Offshore.

Productive Series Reservoir Characterization and Petroleum Geology of the Lower Kura Depression, Southeastern Shemakha-Gobustan Trough and Baku Archipelago, Republic of Azerbaijan.

Analyzed and interpreted depositional facies and systems in the Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast, utilizing core and log data, to aid affiliate offices in their exploitation efforts.

Contributor to the design of a 3-D geologic model for a major fluvial-deltaic reservoir in Lake Maricaibo, Venezuela, as part of an enhanced oil recovery program.

SELECT LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE

Project Manager, Co-Principal Investigator, and Lead Scientist. "Integrated Geoscience Evaluation of Carbonate Reservoirs in the Permian Basin: Ellenburger Phase II."

SELECT PETROLEUM RESEARCH/TRAINING EXPERIENCE

Integrated Geoscience Evaluation of Carbonate Reservoirs in the Permian Basin–Ellenburger Phase II.

Organized and co-taught a 3-day seminar for oil company staff in Calgary entitled "Sequence and Seismic Stratigraphy Applied to Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production."

Organized and taught a 2-day seminar for oil company staff in England entitled "Sequence Stratigraphy Applied to Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production."

Organized and co-lead a 5-day field seminar for oil company staff entitled "Aeolian Sandstone Reservoirs: Analogs for the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico." that examined Modern and ancient aeolian deposits with an emphasis on: facies within wet and dry aeolian depositional systems; identification of those facies from core, well logs and 3-D seismic; and effects of heterogeneities on reservoir compartmentalization and production.

Chaired and coordinated a 3-week course entitled "Coalbed Methane Basin Evaluation: Theory and Practice" for the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation of India. The course included lectures and field trips and covered numerous topics ranging from: depositional systems and sequence stratigraphy, reservoir quality and properties, exploration and production methods, maturation and basin modeling, coal petrography, logging, reservoir simulation, and economics.

Ferron Sandstone Study with the Utah Geological Survey

Contributed to development of Exxon's sequence stratigraphic concepts with detailed outcrop and subsurface studies synthesized into regional stratigraphic and sedimentologic analyses.

Chaired and/or co-instructed 11 domestic and overseas short courses in Basic Clastic Facies, Clastic Facies, and Introductory Geology. Taught parts of 16 field trips for various Clastic Facies schools and Reservoir Geology for Engineers. Lectured on sedimentology, stratigraphy, and geologic applications of well logs in 24 other schools.
